Nowhere / Now Here – Mural for Ploegendienst Festival x Blind Walls Gallery
For Ploegendienst Festival 2024, I created a typographic mural in collaboration with Blind Walls Gallery.
This work explores the intersection of music and nature, two forces that, for me, offer a sense of isolation and stillness, but also deep presence. Whether you’re standing alone in a forest or lost in a beat, you can suddenly feel completely removed from the world, nowhere, or intensely aware of the present moment, now here.
I captured this duality through abstract letterforms that visually play with that shift in meaning. It’s a reflection of how rhythm, sound, and the natural world can disorient and ground you at the same time.
To expand the experience, I created an animated layer that could be viewed through your phone, turning the static wall into a moving, living piece.
This project is part of my ongoing research into typography as experience, not just something to read, but something to feel, move with, and step into.
